  • Experienced Veterinarian for Associates Position

    If you have at least two years of experience as a practicing Veterinarian, Village Veterinary Clinic, located in Burke, Virginia, wants to make you a part of our work family. Here you can practice peacefully practice medicine with like-minded colleagues.

    As an Associate Veterinarian, you will report to and work closely with the owner, John Lonam, DVM, to provide quality care and nurture relationships with our clients and staff.   • Licensed Veterinary Technician, Part Time

    Village Veterinary Clinic wants to make you a part of our work family if you have at least one year of experience as a Veterinary LVT with an active or pending State of Virginia license.

    For over 30 years, our loyal clients and their pet companions have also felt like family in our warm, friendly practice. Ours is a fantastic
    opportunity to build relationships, grow professionally, and support the expansion of a compassionate veterinary practice.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Surgery preparation, with pre-and post-operative care and administering anesthesia and patient monitoring.

    • Dental cleanings and some dental procedures.

    • Triage emergency and hospitalized patient nursing and laboratory testing.

    • Assist with exam ‘rooming’ of animals to intake vital signs and weight to prepare the Veterinarian for appointments.

    • Utilize proper and safe handling techniques to hold cats and dogs during procedures.

    • Aid Veterinarians in the treatment room by assisting with blood draws, preparing, and completing lab work, monitoring patients
      during surgical procedures, collecting samples from animals, and preparing vaccines.

    • Conduct rounds on hospitalized animals, completing nursing/assisting care as needed.

    • Updating medical records through the client and patient management system, Avimark.

    • Kennel Maintenance: cleaning kennels/runs/crates, washing/drying food and water dishes, laundering bedding and towels.

    • Walking hospitalized animals. Feeding dogs and cats and administering medication as directed.

    • Maintain clinical workspace, equipment, treatment room, and exam rooms.

    • Ensuring hospital protocols are followed to maintain high standards of care.

    Other Requirements:

    • Ability to remain calm when interacting and handling a variety of dog/cat breeds and appropriately respond to behavioral and
      temperament cues.

    • Excellent attention to detail, ability to multi-task and respond with a sense of urgency, and perform work duties with initiative and
      commitment to high standards.

    • Enthusiasm for teamwork, possessing a strong work ethic with excellent communication skills.

    • Ability to learn and perform various tasks to contribute to overall team success. Work independently on tasks as assigned.

    • Dedication to excellent customer service and animal welfare.

    • Treat all patients, clients, and hospital/kennel staff with respect and compassion.

    Competencies:

    • Reliable transportation to and from work.

    • Availability to work some weekends

    • Ability to lift a minimum of 30lbs; work involves continual walking and standing throughout shift; physical demands include walking,
      standing, bending, reaching, stooping, and kneeling.

    • Are 18 years or older

    • Are authorized to work in the United States.

  • Veterinary Assistant, Part Time

  • Kennel Technician

    Village Veterinary Clinic is looking for a patient person who has an affinity for animals and people, a strong sense of responsibility, and a willingness to embrace the challenge of steady work to be their Kennel Technician. The “Kennel Tech” helps maintain the cleanliness and order of our kennel area and general facility. They also provide for the primary needs of pets that are being groomed or boarded.

    According to your availability, shifts vary; morning, after-school/evening, weekends, and holidays. Boarding is available to clients 365 days a year. Candidates must be at least age 16 and able to lift 40 lbs.

    Facility Maintenance
    • Clean cages and runs as needed

    • Launder towels and blankets and clean bowls

    • Basic janitorial services for the clinic, including bathrooms

    • Maintain the cleanliness and order of the kennel area

    Pet Care
    • Feeding and exercise

    • Pick up Feces and maintain exercise field

    • Bathing and brushing

    Record Keeping and Health Reporting
    • Maintain food and elimination record

    • Label and secure pet belongings

    • Report health and behavioral concerns

    • Assist Veterinary team with tasks as requested
